How do lignins get added to the battery paste?

They are commonly added to battery pastes at the same time as the conductive carbon and barium sulfate.

Borregaard’s lignosulfonates are water soluble and robust over a wide range of pH, temperature, and electrochemical conditions. Often they are included as part of an expander package, blended and sold by third parties.
